Ontario Open Bronze Medal with Sensei Hino

In 2003, salve my wife Elizabeth and I went to Japan to teach English.  In the process we integrated ourselves into Japanese culture and learned a variety of different traditions and practices.  On a sunny afternoon, we were riding our bikes around Sakai City (Osaka Prefecture) and stumbled across a large sports complex.  We decided to check things out and saw that there was a Judo club upstairs.  The sensei asked me to come back on the next practice day, and since that day I have never left the sport.

Today I am preparing for my black belt grading for the spring and have already received my Level 2 National Coaching Certification allowing me to coach students of all ages.  My aspirations are to create a Little Ninja class for kids under 5 which will teach the physical literacy of martial arts, specifically Judo, so that they can prepare for Junior classes with Sensei Tom Hino.  The kids will be able to take the skills they learn in my class anywhere and to any sport, but they will certainly learn the fundamentals of Judo: Respect, Confidence and Self-defence.

If you have children, please indicate your interest here: paul@preferences.ca and I will be sure to notify you when we have an open-house.
